Boo-ston Fans

My correspondence with a friend who was reared in Boston about how the Yankees, replacements and all, were playing more like last year’s Red Sox squad, and vice versa, was met with his statement that Boston fans have given up on the Red Sox and prefer to focus on the Celtics, Bruins and Patriots.

That makes for a tough job for Cora and his crew, who have yet to play at a championship level. And it’s noticed by beat writer Jen McCaffrey in The Athletic:

Winning has become so ubiquitous in Boston that it’s led to a distorted view of reality in which near-perfection is all but demanded on a daily basis.

Talk about a no-win situation!
